Description

A Reusable, Connected Single-Gas Detector

The Honeywell BW Solo Wireless is a personal single-gas detector designed to continuously monitor the atmosphere around the user. Each unit is equipped with a sensor dedicated to a single gas, selected based on the risk to be monitored.

We offer seven models for detecting chlorine (Cl₂), carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO₂), hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), ammonia (NH₃), oxygen (O₂), or sulfur dioxide (SO₂).

Unlike a detector with a predefined service life, the BW Solo is designed to be maintained and reused over time. Its battery, filter, and sensor can be replaced as needed, without having to completely disassemble the device.

7 gases available depending on the risk to be monitored

Measurement characteristics depend on the installed sensor. The models we offer use 1-Series sensors for CO, CO₂, H₂S, and O₂, and 4-Series sensors for Cl₂, NH₃, and SO₂.

Gas Sensor Measurement Range Resolution Operating Temperature
Carbon Dioxide – CO₂ 1-Series IR 0 to 50,000 ppm 100 ppm -20 to +60 °C
Carbon monoxide – CO 1-Series

0 to 2,000 ppm 1 ppm -40 to +60 °C

Oxygen – O₂ 0 to 30% vol. 0.1% vol.
Hydrogen sulfide – H₂S 0 to 200 ppm 0.1 ppm
Ammonia – NH₃ 4-Series 0 to 100 ppm 1 ppm -20 to +40 °C
Chlorine – Cl₂ 0 to 50 ppm 0.1 ppm
Sulfur dioxide – SO₂ 0 to 100 ppm 0.1 ppm -40 to +50 °C

Each BW Solo is a single-gas detector: the gas to be monitored must therefore be selected from the options listed on the product sheet. Other sensors are available for more specific applications; we can provide you with information if your need involves a gas that is not directly offered in our selection.

Simplified maintenance to extend service life

The BW Solo is designed to simplify routine maintenance. The battery, filter, and sensor are replaceable, allowing the detector to remain in service beyond the battery’s runtime or the sensor’s lifespan.

The 1-Series and 4-Series sensors are designed as replaceable modules. The detector also monitors the status of its key components and can alert you to upcoming functional test or calibration deadlines, as well as certain non-compliance issues.

Wireless Version with Bluetooth Low Energy

The versions we offer include Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connectivity. This allows the BW Solo to communicate with a compatible smartphone to facilitate device setup, view device information, and track data.

Compatible apps allow users to manage certain alarm thresholds, functional test or calibration reminders, and information related to the detector. The BW Solo is also compatible with the IntelliDoX station to automate certain testing, calibration, and fleet management operations.

Permanent Display and Alarms Tailored to Individual Wearers

The BW Solo’s screen directly displays the measured concentration as well as key status information. It features a single button for easy viewing and adjustment, even when the user is wearing gloves.

If a configured threshold is exceeded, the user is alerted by audible, visual, and vibrating alarms. The audible alarm reaches 95 dB. Depending on the gas and configuration, the detector also tracks high and low readings, short-term exposure values, and time-weighted averages.

The standard Wireless version also maintains a history of 50 events and allows data logging over a period of up to six months with a 5-second measurement interval.

Battery Life and Warranty Vary by Model

The lithium battery can be replaced without having to fully open the detector. Its battery life depends primarily on the type of sensor installed.

Model Detector warranty Sensor warranty Average battery life
CO 3 years 12 months
H₂S
O₂ 6 months
CO₂ 4 months
SO₂ 2 years 12 months
Cl₂ 2 years 1 year
NH₃

The battery life values listed are averages. They may vary depending on detector usage, environmental conditions, triggered alarms, and battery condition.

Functional Test, Calibration, and Monitoring of the Detector

We recommend performing a functional test before each day of use to verify the sensor’s response and ensure that alarms trigger properly. A new test is also recommended after a significant impact, submersion, exposure outside the operating range, or whenever there is any doubt regarding the detector’s operation.

Calibration must be performed if the functional test fails and at least every six months, subject to operating conditions, exposure to gases or contaminants, and any applicable on-site requirements.

The filter, sensor, and battery can be replaced as needed, allowing the BW Solo to be integrated into a sustainable maintenance and management program for a fleet of detectors.
