A single-gas detector designed to operate for 2 or 3 years
The Honeywell BW Clip is a compact personal gas detector designed to continuously monitor a single gas in the user’s immediate vicinity. Depending on the model selected, it detects hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), carbon monoxide (CO), oxygen (O₂), or sulfur dioxide (SO₂).
Once activated, the detector operates continuously for its entire service life. It requires no battery recharging, battery replacement, or sensor replacement. This design makes it easy to use on a daily basis, without having to manage charging cycles.

Each detector is a single-gas detector: the gas to be monitored and the service life must therefore be selected when choosing the model.
BW Clip or BW Clip RT: What’s the difference?
Both versions are based on the same single-gas detection principle and feature an LCD screen. The main difference lies in the concentration display and calibration options.

The BW Clip is therefore suitable for applications where the primary objective is to immediately alert the user when a threshold is exceeded. The BW Clip RT additionally provides a continuous reading of the measured concentration, which is useful when monitoring changes in gas levels is part of the operation’s requirements.

All four versions use electrochemical sensors. For oxygen, a zeroing procedure must be performed every 24 hours or when the corresponding prompt appears on the device.
Alarms and Automatic Checks for Daily Use
When an alarm threshold is reached, the BW Clip alerts the user with a combinationof audible, visual, and vibrating alarms. The audible alarm reaches approximately 95 dB at 10 cm, and the wide-angle red LEDs facilitate visual identification of an alarm situation.
Once in operation, the detector automatically performs an internal diagnostic test every 24 hours to check the battery, sensor, and electronics, among other components. It can also log the 35 most recent events to facilitate device monitoring.
Hibernation Mode for the 2-Year BW Clip H₂S and CO Models
The 24-month H₂S and CO versions feature a hibernation mode that pauses the operating time count when they are not in use for an extended period.
This feature can be activated for periods of inactivity lasting at least 7 days and up to 12 months in total. This allows the 24 months of effective operating time to be spread over a period of up to 36 months. When the detector is in hibernation mode, its monitoring functions are disabled.
A compact design suitable for personal wear
Weighing only 92 g and measuring 41 × 50 × 87 mm, the BW Clip can be easily attached to clothing or equipment using its alligator clip. Its housing features an IP66/IP67 rating for protection against dust and water.
The series is certified for use in potentially explosive atmospheres with the marking ATEX II 1G Ex ia IIC T4 Ga.

Functional Test and Monitor the Detector
The absence of periodic recharging or replacement of the battery or sensor does not exempt you from regularly verifying that the detector is functioning properly. We recommend performing regular functional tests by exposing the sensor to a known gas concentration above the low alarm threshold and verifying that the audible and visual alarms activate.
The sensor grille must also remain clean and unobstructed to ensure proper detection. The IntelliDoX and MicroDock II systems can be used to facilitate testing, configuration, and retrieval of recorded events.
