TheAKRON Brass Assault 4866 h handheld nozzle head is designed for professionals seeking a simple combination of fixed flow rate, spray quality, and ease of use. Part of the Mid-Range Assault line, it features a calibrated orifice that delivers a specific flow rate at a given pressure, eliminating the need for flow adjustments during operation.

The Assault 4866 series is available with several factory-calibrated flow/pressure combinations, ranging from 360 to 750 L/min depending on the configuration. This means the user cannot adjust the settings: each nozzle has an orifice corresponding to its nominal flow rate. The main version sold here is configured for 475 L/min at 5 bar*. AKRON also offers variants operating at 3.5, 5, or 7 bar, allowing the nozzle to be adapted to the hydraulic characteristics of the fire line.

A fixed flow rate for simple and repeatable use

Unlike a multi-flow nozzle, the Assault 4866 model does not allow the operator to select the flow rate during an operation. AKRON offers various hydraulic configurations of the same Style 4866, each factory-calibrated for a specific flow/pressure combination.

This design reduces the number of steps required, simplifies operating procedures, and minimizes the need for recalibration. It is particularly well-suited when crews require a known and repeatable flow rate on a specific attack line.

Quick Switch from Straight Jet to Diffused Jet

The Assault 4866 nozzle allows switching from a straight stream to a spray stream with a quarter-turn of the adjustment ring. AKRON specifies a minimum spray angle of 100°. The rotating teeth help form the fan spray, while a raised tab allows the user to identify the straight spray position by touch, especially when visibility is limited.

This ergonomic design allows the user to quickly adjust the spray pattern depending on the phase of the operation: establishing range with the straight spray, or protecting or covering a wider area with the fan spray.

A Pyrolite construction designed for the job

The body is made of Pyrolite, the alloy used by AKRON in many professional-grade devices to combine durability with a lightweight design. The 1½" version measures approximately 165 mm in length and weighs about 1.2 kg.

Its relatively simple mechanical design also facilitates maintenance. Seals, turbine vanes, and various wear parts can be replaced as part of proper maintenance.

Applications of the Assault 4866 Nozzle

The Assault line is designed for various firefighting applications: building fires, industrial operations, airport emergency response, and wildfires. However, the choice of flow/pressure configuration must be consistent with the available water supply, the line diameter, and operational requirements.

The nozzle can be paired with a handheld nozzle -type shut-off valve to form a complete system. It is also compatible with the Quick-Attack Style 796 foam hose. When an injector is used, its flow rate must be properly matched to that of the nozzle to maintain system performance.

These are two different threading standards. The nominal diameter may seem comparable, but the threads are not directly interchangeable. The appropriate version must be selected based on the fitting present on your system.
